This week was the last week of the so-called Easter break, although to be honest I didn’t get much of a break. This week has been fairly emblematic of the past two, with me swapping between student ambassador work (tours, school visits, Q&A sessions etc) and actual work for uni (mostly reading, but also essay and presentation prep). But I managed to spice it all up a bit by meeting up with a few friends here and then, building up to a spectacular climax to my holiday… but more of that later.
So, the week started on Tuesday, following bank holiday Monday, with me giving tours to prospective post-grad students. After the tours I also caught up with Kaja and we got a coffee in Jessop West cafe, before heading home to continue reading. Wednesday was much the same, only with tours for prospective under-grads instead of post-grads. In the evening I met up with an old friend from way back when, Charlotte, who has been working in Sheffield since graduating from Kings College London last July. However, despite working in Sheffield full time she confessed to me on the train before Christmas that she hasn’t really had the opportunity to see what the city has to offer in the way of bars. So, as something of a local expert I offered to show her my favourites, so we visited The Old House and then got a quick drink in The Sheffield Tap.
Thursday I had no tours to give so I stayed at home and worked hard to try and get my work finished before the end of the break. In the evening I met up with some of my oldest friends from home, Laura and Abbie, and we went to three of my village’s five pubs.
And then came Friday, which would frame the Odyssey that would take up the final says of my Easter…
