The Adam Smith Experience
MA - Back in Action

Gee… it didn’t take long all to fall back into the swing of things!

I managed to get into Uni early yesterday morning and get some work done. Just as I was starting to feel like a break from reading the extensive lamentations of Janet Little, the infamous C18th Milk Maid, I got a message from Charlotte. I properly met Charlotte at Fay’s before the weekend, although we sort of met briefly at SPACE just before Easter, and unusually we’ve been aware of each other for quite a while thanks to Facebook, on which we share a hand full of mutual friends.

So, I met Charlotte and we went to get a coffee in The Old House. It was a good laugh, and once again I was amazed that I’m still meeting new people and making new friends this late in the game. You literally don’t know who you’re going to meet next! After coffee we decided we were both hungry and went to get lunch in Bar S1(where I may have accidentally offended a waiter when he said ‘Enjoy your meals’ and I replied possibly a little to loudly ‘I’ll try my best’).

We parted eventually, and by now it was getting on for 3pm- the time at which I’d agreed to meet up with Sally and Izzy, once again at The Old House. This was also great fun, and conversation recurrently turned to our independent creative writing projects, and its always great to have someone to talk to about private fiction projects.

Then Izzy kindly invited me to accompany her to Starbucks to have coffee with an old tutor, which, obviously I did, despite fears that I might begin to suffer caffeine poison. This was brilliant and inspirational!

And today, as if by karma for having such a good day yesterday, I had three two hour seminars pretty much back to back, but they were all very interesting and all became host to lively discussions. I was reunited first with Bish, who I haven’t seen since St Paddy’s day, and then Kenton and Jane who are newly arrived back from the States. Amazingly they also brought me the most brilliant gift- a new copy of Interview with a Vampire which is actually addressed to me and signed by its author - ANNE RICE!!!!
