The Adam Smith Experience
48 Hours of Action

The last couple of days have been crazy.

To begin with, one of my tutors announced ten minutes into a seminar that he wished we weren’t cooped up inside on such a nice day, before deciding to transport the seminar to the beer garden outside Fusionon Division Street (where he also bought us all a drink and we were served by my friend Nikki’s old housemate Yuriko). That in itself was fairly unprecedented!

Then, I had an hour gap before having to go to see one of my tutors to get an essay idea approved. Almost by design I got a message from Sally, one of my friends from the under-grad days, saying that not only was she in Sheffield but that she was in Weston Park if I’d like to join her. Quickly deciding I’d like that very much I headed to the park and we sat in the sun and chatted away. It looks like Sally will be back next year to do an MA in Creative Writing! I heartily approve!

After that I had the meeting with my tutor which went very well (although he became very insistent that I should to my PhD in the USA and threatened to put my in touch with the author of the book that I’m writing this paper on- definite food for thought).

I then went to Viki’s to watch the film for this week’s ‘Representing the C18th’ Seminar. Bish was there too. Bish and I have to do a presentation on this movie, it’s called Ridicule, and it is what can only be described as ‘French’. Very French.

Finally it was time for Jane’s UK birthday celebrations, for which we went for a meal in The Old House. Lots of Jane’s course mates were there, as well as Kaja and Abi. The food was great, and afterwards we went onto Bungalowes and Bears for what will be remembered as a very enjoyable night. But, the story of these 48 hours was only just beginning…
